Geraldine Fitzgerald - Don't Cry For Me, Argentina

Serving up some Marianne Faithfull realness!

  1. What on earth would have compelled her to do that? Just, why? And I appreciate that the pianist added a key change. Barry Manilow in his version of "Memory" is the only other arranger who did the same since Andrew Lloyd Webber's work is so, ahem, subtle that it needs spicing — gaying? — up.

  2. Oh. My. Gawd. Not so much Miss Faithfull, more like an Eartha Kitt impersonator on a cruise ship. Jx

  3. I have always loved Gerry, but this was positively wretched! She brought nothing to it, including note security. Wikipedia says this show of hers had three successful Broadway runs. IBDB.com lists it one time with 2 performances, which I feel better fits what I saw today! LOL

  4. I'm guessing a bottle of gin was involved.

    1. It's probably the copy of the video, but the wobbliness makes me feel like I'm the one who's been drinking the gin.

  6. Damn! Now I can't stop seeing Marianne Faithful and David Bowie doing a duet to this! And HE would be wearing the blonde chignon wig and the Dior gown!

    2. Imagine? You mean what I saw wasn't real?
