Julie Andrews & Henry Mancini

There was a time when popular television shows featured beautiful music.

  1. I can't think of a song more out of touch with the story it memorialized, even more than "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte." Still, an exquisite performance by Miss Andrews, despite the way-too-lush background singers. You'd have thought Ray Conniff was involved.

  3. I just can't imagine how that movie might have turned out if Dame Julie had been cast by her hubbie Blake Edwards in the Lee Remick part...

The song is lovely, if somewhat - as Cwilson says - "way-too-lush". Jx

    1. Imagine the turn Julie's career might have taken were she cast in that film!

This is one of my favorite songs. This particular arrangement is a bit much, perhaps, but at least they were trying for something beautiful, which is more than one can say for the shite that passes for televised entertainment these days!
