  1. 1. I know "City of New Orleans" in French and, like this version, the lyric has absolutely no relation to the original English lyric.

    2. Rudi Carrell looks like a schoolteacher who got a day off to do a TV special.

  3. He's a German Porter Waggoner! Where's his Dolly Parton?

  4. I thought The Swimming Pool of New Orleans would be a lot more impressive.

    1. Oh my Thombeau! I just checked! There no Heino on The Redundant Variety Hour blog! That has to be an accident.

    2. Thanks for reminding me, Vance! I don't know why I've never "gone there". My mother is from Germany so I definitely hear Heino at home (along with more schlager than I care to admit). Will remedy this situation soon!

    3. Oh, my!

The crazy thing is that I actually know that song! Though I've been blissfully unaware of this version...until now!

  6. It's a remake of an Esther Williams movie, but on a Dollar-Store budget.
