A Supreme Moment

In which Miss Ross hears a symphony, the girls are relegated to the background, and the set decorations are mildly underwhelming.

  1. Don't be fooled Thom, this is about one thing and one thing only. The Wigs!

  2. I think Miss Ross's wig may be too tight considering how many times she blew the lyrics.

  3. Good lord. Never have I seen Mary and Flo look so pissed off (and that's saying something) - the glance that Miss Wilson shoots her onetime friend's way at 1:43 could melt steel.

It's not helping that the usual genius that surrounded the girls failed so thoroughly here, leaving them to all appearances dressed in curtains from the motel trimmed at the last minute in rickrack.

Do you think we'll reach a time again when we can enjoy the Supremes' music without an overpowering awareness of all the dysfunction?

  4. That's a LOT of set decoration for the Mike Douglas Show. No one ever got more mileage out of a supply of asterisks.

  5. My question is whether it was a Ross ad-lib to take the mic off its stand and venture left, away from the other gals, thus spreading the camera frame thin and potentially eliminating them from view. It seemed like the lighting wasn't prepared for it and it also seemed like 2/3rds of The Supremes weren't either!
