In my dreams Jean-Pierre Cassel and I dance the night away.
Only if I can watch!
His twirls certainly astonished Ginger! Jx
From what I can tell, this was in 1980 and Ginger looks better there than she did in a lot of her 1970s appearances. My mother was lucky enough to see her and Marlene Dietrich — at different times — in supper clubs during the 1970s. And I can't wait to retire to performing on the supper club circuit (well, the minute that someone revives the supper club circuit.)
You're being kind, Vance - I think she looks like a truck driver doing a Norma Zimmer impression. And not well.Ginger really is a conundum - no performer more likely to delight before 1940, nor more likely to dismay in the all decades following. As for supper clubs, when they come back, I think we should team up with Thombeau and TJB for a reincarnation of 4Girls4. [Oh, God - I just checked online, and there is a reincarnation of 4Girls4, and it consists of Maureen McGovern, Andrea McArdle, Donna McKechnie, and Faith Prince. I can't decide if that sounds like fun or like a harbinger of the apocalypse...]
All I have to say to your last paragraph, dear Muscato, is YES and OMG!!
A truck driver doing a Norma Zimmer Impression sounds like Heaven On Earth to me! But I'm not normal so don't go by me.And please put me down for a reservation opening night at the Supper Club.BrianB
Brian, you are always on the guest list! XOXO
