Knef Fest!

We love Hildegard Knef! And we love these clips, all from the same television program. They're fabulous! The art direction more than makes up for any budget constraints, and the monochromatic look is perfect for Knef's monochromatic voice. Whether she's wandering through an abandoned warehouse, reliving Last Year at Marienbad, spying on spies, or simply remembering when the world was young, she's the compelling star of her own mini-movies. We hope that at least a few of you enjoy these as much as we do!

  1. "Er hiess nicht von Oertzen, er hiess einfach T(h)om...". This completely made my day! You're right about the art direction - surprisingly edgy, no? The first one looks like she snuck into the warehouse where Joy Division did Love Will Tear Us Apart on a guerilla chanson raid. But they're all amazing.

    1. Yay! I only wish that I could've found the rest of the clips from that show.

  2. Wow, this is like Thunderbirds reshot as a film noir musical by Carol Reed, staring Ms Knef as Lady Penelope . I cannot think of higher praise!
