Featuring the Moose Knuckle Dancers.
Boy! After seeing so many disco stars who couldn't really dance at all and frequently just stood there - Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Grace Jones, The Village People (OK, they marched pretty well), I gotta say Miss Stewart could stand to Peggy Lee it a little. She's almost moving TOO MUCH! No wonder she left her headdress in the dressing room. As for the dancing Solid Gold Garage Attendants...I'm seeing my past flash before my eyes. Great find, Thom!
She was a trained dancer and apparently wanted everyone to know it! Totally doing a Josephine Baker thing here.As for the golden boys, of course they made me think of you!
the redundancy is staggering.
That's why it's here!
As much as I enjoy moose knuckle dancers, when it comes to listening to this song, I much prefer the original version by Eddie Floyd. Love it, in fact.
The original is a classic, to be sure, but the production is such a sonic barrage on this version, and her vocals so great, that this will always be my favorite. At least we can agree on the boys in gold!
It's my favourite version too, unsurprisingly. Jx
For completists: compare and contrast the choreography to this official video version, where the safety gays were portrayed via video effects by Ms. Stewart herself (a little something I think of as "The Night of a Thousand Amiis.): http://youtu.be/1ztZ7WFo3nw
A classic. "Night of a Thousand Amiis" indeed!
I just adore the wood-knocker crew.Certain people's color is gold lame'....
Such very, very bendy boys... I love it! JxPS Useless piece of information - she is the step-sister of Hi-NRG diva Miquel Brown, and Aunt to Sinitta. Which says a lot.
