Robert Goulet -- MacArthur Park

Why did people ever sing this song?

(Compare and contrast with this stunning version.)

    1. He's had a vision of the future and is about to kill his wife for starting a YouTube channel to post this on. (The clip was posted by Vera Goulet, which at first confused but now frightens me.)

  3. As a ten year-old I played this waaaaay too long a song as a piano solo during the talent show at Camp Indianhead. I still feel the shame of losing...but console myself by recalling the unappreciative audience was high on hot dogs and beans. Robert appears to be in similar need of Beano.

I like Mac. But you have to wonder. Did singers owe Jimmy Webb big time? Or was this a song they had to tilt at like a windmill? Too stalwart & square to go with the trippy flow such mixed metaphor demands, this may be Robert's impossible dream. I will give him points for singing telepathically.

  7. The song is mystical and evokes emotions which brings a climax of self fulfillment, or catharsis of emotions.
