Clusterfuck of Stars

This time it's all about the men. Some of them are still around!

  1. I love how Bob Fosse cocks his hat at a jaunty angle!

  2. I'm trying to figure out how that passed as entertainment.

  3. I'd never heard of Bert Parks, so I Googled around and... OH MY GOD.

    1. Oh, butterscotch, I forget that you're too young to remember Mr. Parks and all his splendor. That clip is a real find, will be posting it soon. Thanks!!

    2. Bert Parks had a one-off role in an episode of Roseanne that showed off his wonderful comic skills. Rock Hudson looked like he was in the early stages of AIDS, wonder if he and Jim Nabors shared a dressing room or if they conspicuously avoided each other in front of the cameras to avoid becoming the butt (pardon the pun) of a new generation of jokes. Burgess Meredith looked frail, but who the fuck would've guessed he'd outlive Hudson? Once they all got into a single line, each male had the same "what the hell do we do now?" look on their faces.

  4. Like any show (TV?) "of it's time," I guess you had to be there... Thanks, Thom!

  6. So how did they decide who got in? "Can he still walk? Pretty much? Good enough."

I'm convinced at least one of them died backstage

  7. "Some of them are still around" But not for long...Charles Durning just recently gave up the ghost. Matt Dillon and John Boy are the lone youthful standouts. Mmm...Matt Dillon and John Boy...

  8. How I love these clips. They all got paid just for walking onto the stage. And who would have thought BERT CONVEY was a "Star" instead of a daytime personality.

  9. Wow! What great fun! somehow I missed these spectacles when they were aired.
Love the varied expression from thrill to terror on the gentlemen's faces, and the strong tugs from the "Safety Girls" (is that allowed?)to get the guys off center stage.
