she was funny, sugar! did y'all see the documentary about her? "Goodnight we love you?"xxoxoxo(love the your site, darlin!)
Thanks for stopping by, Savanna! And for the recommendation, I'm certain to enjoy it.
It reveals, among other zany things, that Phyllis is a highly accomplished concert pianist and classic car enthusiast. Oh, and she loves cooking and travels everywhere with garlic in her purse. So relatable!
She would often appear on the Tonight Show and play the harpsichord. It was always a pleasant surprise---not unlike Charo and her flamenco guitar!
That getup reminds me of the kind of photos you tend to get from Gay Pride in somewhere like Doncaster or Truro... Gawd bless Miss Diller, the role model for tacky drag queens everywhere! Jx
Miss Diller wrote the book on bad drag. Which is why we love her!
Speaking of bad drag... Jx
Jon, I don't have an account so I can't comment on your link but I thought Bad Drag was Barbara Eden at first!BrianB
Brian, daahling, it takes seconds to sign up to the great Blogworld (and it's the same profile for YouTube etc). JxPS I'm sure Miss Parton would be flattered with the comparison...
Girl put on that nasty wig like a hat and went out on stage without event looking in a mirror.
HER TIMING! And that voice, she is so under-appreciated. Sure, some of the jokes bombed, but her recoveries were always so good. And let's not forget- this was an actress playing a part. I've always felt that she wasn't given enough credit for the character that she was playing. Still is. (Sorry for the bad kerning. If you read JMG, you ken kerning)
RIP indeed - she will be sorely missed! Jx
