Miss Horne always grimaced like she was trying to deep-throat a melon. Fabulous, though... RIP. Jx
Ha! You are right on both counts. Of course!
Spoken like someone who's tried to do it, Jon.
That was a Melanesian, not a melon. Jx
Brilliant! How lucky we are to have the technology to keep such gorgeous, silky and velvety voices alive! Thanks Thom!xoxoJon
Thank goodness for YouTube and the wonderful individuals who post these old clips there! When you think that most variety shows and specials were only televised once, we are blessed to be able to enjoy such ephemera again and again!
YouTube is itself a bit ephemeral, as the gnomes in charge keep closing down people's accounts. People who may possess such ephemera quite often never post it again, as I have found to my cost over the time I have been blogging... Jx
We should make the most of it and download as much as we can before the party is shut down!:(OMG... did I just see Astrud Gilberto on the side bar....... YAY!
Such is the nature of life...Which can be quite aggravating, to be sure! A number of my fave videos which have been posted here have since been removed from YouTube for various reasons. So we must enjoy these riches while we can!
Was that all a single shot? In this word of multiple cameras and rapid-fire cutting, it's so darn nice to see something elegantly but simply filmed. (Now I have to go find Ms. Horne singing "Home in The Wiz.)
I'm always impressed by the subtle creativity of these relatively low-budget and, by today's standards, "primitive" programs. A lot can be learned from them!
Not to sound bitter, but whay no The New Zoo Revue? Now that was variety - to be sure! hee hee hee
All in good time, my pretty.
This song always reminds me of that Almodovar movie. You know the one I mean.
