They really went all-out on the set decoration!
The hairspray budget was immense.
All the construction money went for that bouffant. Money well spent, I'd say.
Dolly is my spirit animal.
They broke the mould when they made Dolly Parton! In fact they broke the mould when they made that wig. Jx
I think they used the wig to break the mold!Dollywood is one of my favorite places ever!BrianB
You've actually been? Oh, Brian, you are the envy of many!
I'll take you on a guided tour, Thom. I was born in her home town and every year when I was wee they had a day where residents (read: poor folks) could get in free. Once I sang along to a piped-in "Why'd You Come in Here Lookin' Like That" on a bale of hay while standing in line for ice cream, much to the delight of the tourists. Serving queeny toddler realness at probably the only place in the South where that kind of thing is applauded. Goddess bless Dolly.
Queeny toddler realness!!!Methinks a field trip is in our future.
Oh Thom, I was there with 5 of my 9 siblings a few years ago. She has an incredible Bird of Prey/Eagle sanctuary right there on the grounds and one of her tour buses that they drove into the park at the end of one of her tours and she told them to leave the wigs and makeup exactly where they were when she got off the bus so people could see how she lived on the road. The Dolly Museum that you walk through with all her costumes and old videos like in this post but the unforgettable moment was seeing the actual Coat of Many Colors that she wore as a child and sung about years later! It was all I could do to hold back the Choke and Sob Reflex when I realized what I was looking at! When you're there you realize what a big deal Dolly has been over the years.BrianB
Wow, Brian, sounds awesome. And the sibling factor sorta blows my mind!
Lil Dolly Parton....love her...love the song...LOVE the hair did
