Clusterfuck of Stars

Peter Allen! A glittery Ashford & Simpson! Maureen Stapleton selling hotdogs! Placido Domingo! The fabulous Marisa Berenson! Deborah Raffin (anyone remember her?)! Robert Klein! Lucie Arnaz! Jerry Orbach! Leslie Uggams! Melba Moore! (Check out her outfit.) Petula Clark! (in a mullet?) Carol Channing! Big Bird! Dinah Shore! Patti LaBelle! Jennifer Holliday! (Check out her outfit.) Joe Namath? Crappy choreography and sparkly sequins! Ah, those were the days...

Liza must have been in rehab at the time.

  2. Every time after experiencing a clusterfuck of stars, I get a little homesick.....
You knew that though, didn't you...

    1. Of course, darling. Just remember that YOU are a star, no matter where you are. You're a superstar! Yes, that's what you are!

  3. I think it's entirely possible that Maureen Stapleton had no idea whatsoever where she was. I also think it's possible that no one then or since had any idea why Robert Klein had a brief vogue as the king of Little Musicals.

And don't get me started on Lucie...

  6. Robert Klein might be the worst dancer I've ever seen. Watch him.

  7. What I'm surprised about is hearing Barry Manilow's "New York City Rhythm" actually being sung rather than, well, performed by Mr. Manilow; it's a better number than I gave it credit for previously.

  8. Ditto. Someone told Maureen it was a revival and bam! She was there.
Then someone put a hotdog in her hand......

  9. That certainly was star packed but I can't help feeling that some Mummenschanz would have added to the overall production.
