I still mourn the cancellation of this epitome of tackiness by the BBC - the sheer ineptitude of the choreography was the highlight of my week for many years! Jx
Wow, I had no idea it wasn't on anymore!
They put some snot-nosed "yoof" in charge who thought it was "old-fashioned" so rescheduled it up against "Coronation Street". Then they pointed at the drop in viewing figues as a justification to get rid of it in 2006. Mind you, judging by the completely unimaginative charts these days it's probably no bad thing if truth be told... Jx
What drove me particularly crazy about the "Top of the Pops" cancellation was that it was finally being shown on BBC America. In the old days, I had to fly to the UK to watch it. (Admittedly, I did not see it very often in those days.) Oddly enough, I have actually seen this dance interpretation of Laurie Anderson. Why? When? Where? I don't know, but it made an impact.
Jon: And this is precisely why the internet in general and YouTube in particular are godsends!VanceMan: This was posted up at the old Chateau, perhaps you saw it there. Once seen, it is never forgotten!
